Chapter Activites
Divorce Camp – design and offer an annual three-day Divorce Camp at well known resorts in the Minnesota North Woods. CLICK HERE for more information.
Seminar Sponsorships – collaborate with other family law organizations and related groups to co-sponsor Continuing Legal Education Seminars.
Legislative Lobbying – track proposed legislation, lobby for Chapter positions and formulate legislation to further the interests of improved outcomes and practices in family law.
Amicus Briefs – appear as “friends of the court” in appellate cases of high statewide significance for Minnesota family law. CLICK HERE for a list of amicus appearances.
Family Case Resolution Projects – support family court case management by providing neutral services for the Minnesota appellate mediation project, the statewide Initial Case Management initiative, and pro bono moderated settlement conference programs in several counties.
Family Law Education Reform – work with local law schools to update and improve law school courses on family law. CLICK HERE for more information on Rethinking Zealousness – A Fresh New Look at Family Law Advocacy.
Liaison with District Courts and Other Family Law Groups – maintain the flow of information and collegiality with other Minnesota groups for family law attorneys, such as the Family Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Collaborative Law Institute, and the district courts for various counties by assigning Fellows to formally serve as Liaisons reporting back to the Chapter.
